My bike and I after the Tour de Forth in Edinburgh last year
If you're reading this you've probably met me at some point - I'm Erwan, a fifth year medical student, keen cyclist and runner. Cycling started off as a way to save on bus fares for me, but I soon caught the bug. Before I knew it, I was ordering my first road bike off Wiggle and damn, did it fly compared to my old mountain bike!
After the odd cycling event here and there (even a triathlon at one point!) I started to dream. Now, dreaming is dangerous - it makes you want to do very silly things. Like biking across the whole of the UK.. which just so happens to be what I'll be doing in about a month from now!
A very rough estimate of the route
A grand total of just over a thousand miles based on our itinerary. Just thinking about it is making me nervous all over again. That's about 1600 kilometres, by the way. I imagine we'll be spending a good 6-7 hours on the bike every day for 19 days. Why am I doing this, again? At least I won't be the only one suffering - there'll be 17 of us doing the ride!
I will leave it at that for now, as there's still much to prepare and much training to do. In the mean time please visit my JustGiving page to read a little about why I'm raising money for Alzheimer Scotland, a charity that means a lot to me.
P.S. If you think I'll be passing by you, feel free to leave a comment and maybe you can cheer me on along the way!
